Jan Amos KOMENSKÝ - life, work, legacy

Felix Jaschke

also Felix Jiří Jaschke

(1756 – 1831)

Burgher of Fulnek, trader, chronicler and collector.

Directed his interests towards historical writings and collecting. He collected and copied any written or verbal documents relating to the history of Fulnek. In his extensive work the Fulneker Chronik oder Quodlibet he brought together in thirteen volumes a large quantity of records, reports, transcribed historical documents and local tales and legends, without any illuminating or critical judgement. He re-wrote archive documents and destroyed the originals. Jaschke recorded local stories about Comenius, and evidently falsified letters from Jan Amos Comenius and Canon Karel Josef Weldemann, a member of the Augustinian Canonry in Fulnek.
