The speech given by Comenius on the occasion of the installation of Michal Henricius as rector of the Brethren’s gymnasium at Leszno.
At the beginning of the 1630s, a new language textbook penned by Comenius and a new syllabus were introduced at the Brethren’s gymnasium at Leszno. The relationship between the religious confessions at the school was also redefined, for which reason it was necessary to pay greater attention to the running thereof. The previous headmaster, Ondřej Wengierski, a friend of Comenius’, ceased, in connection with his entering clerical service, to administer the school. On January 5th 1634, Comenius installed a new headmaster, Michal Henricius of Boleslav, in the position with this speech, which has not survived.
