Poland. City close to Wrocław on the left bank of the Oder.

The old town dates to the 13^th century, and from 1311 to 1676 was the residence of the Brzeg Piasts. In the 16 ^th century it became a centre of the Silesian Renaissance, and later an important centre of polygraphy.

Comenius visited Brzeg on his journey from Transylvania to Leszno in 1654.
